Smelling old books, woodstove fire, and the feel of soft pages

There is something so intoxicating about the smell of old books - and my FAVORITE old book finally arrived! I was in Mr. Loomis' class in 2nd grade, sitting on the floor, completely enthralled in the story of the peasant traveler who came to bring community to a needy village. Even as a young girl, something about that story resonated with me on such a profound level.

The man had nothing to give but his ability to help them to drEEm. hehehe And in the end, not only did he show them how to fill their bellies, but he gave them the "soup stone" so that they could duplicate their efforts again and again.

I'm on day 7 of this detox, and this was the PERFECT way to spend my afternoon - eating clean, sauna relaxation, bathing in childhood memories by the fire.

It's so important that while you're on a detox, you find the space to just relax. Be calm. Stretch your body and mind gently. Soak in the stress-free zone.

If you want to relax with me, I'm happy to read Stone Soup to you on this video. Find a comfortable chair, get cozy and warm, lay back, put your earbuds in, hehehe close your eyes and drift off, if you like!

The story part begins at 2:14 - Enjoy ❤️

I am sad that I only now saw this post and got to hear you read stone soup! I can not vote on this, but I can send you an Ecency POINTS tip.

I loved that story as a child, too. I remember that Captain Kangaroo used to read it on TV. And you can imagine how thrilled I was to learn that It is believed that sopa da pedra originated in Almeirim, which has been dubbed the capital of stone soup. I visited there on a trip to Portugal and got to eat a very memorable bowl of Stone Soup. ♥️

this... is you.
It resonates so much with you, because, if we all look closely, I would bet we find a stone in your pocket, ready to show the world how to make Stone Soup

hehehehehe hi you :)

i'm coming to find you now!

Ooopppsss... So this is how the soup stone came to be. I heard about this soup stone last month. Heheh. I'm pretty sure that I heard that from you too.

Your detox is having a good impact on you. Your mind is having a blast 😂Hehe.

This story is interesting. Pell did so well. He has nothing yet he managed to inspire these people and show them the importance of being a 'community'.

"A little something from everyone" did the magic.

hahahaha yep this is the one! I'm so glad that I found the original book that I loved!!!!

don't you love that the magic came from everyone??? i do too hehee

I missed this out 6 months ago, but now thanks to @melinda010100 I listened and I love that story !LUV

I wonder how many old hidden gems we have on chain? Maybe an idea for next christmas season to bring up some of them :-)

That book hmmm so many memories hahah. I love that story honestly, it was one of my favorite. I always love to read especially when my mum is making dinner and when I am hungry 😂 to you know, calm myself down that food is on its way, worry not! 🤣😭.

You read it beautifully and enjoyed every bit of it including the background music. I love it.

Ah! The weird thing about your detox, hope is not what am thinking 😈🤣. Have a nice day ahead 💕

ROFLLLLLLLL the weird thing about the detox is uploading RIGHT now hahahahahahaha
its at 54% on 3speak. LOLOLOL

I laughed the whole time I was editing it hahahahahahaha

Ok I didn't want to cry today but that story was so heartwarming I welled up hearing your beautiful voice along with the gentle tones of music WOW DREEM you really know how to narrate and made me feel like I was immersed in the story.

I have never heard this story before I'm not a reader by any means until recently but this story was just everything honestly I love the meaning behind it and how he taught the village by working together we can accomplish great things.

Pell is a special person who is really inspiring change with something as simple as a stone and a few invaluable life lessons. This was the best thing I saw today thank you so much for sharing this it was truly beautiful.

!LUV

Isn't it just the best story ever?!?!!

I LOVE that he leaves the stone with them! I'm so surprised you haven't heard this story before - hehehe I've been hearing it for so many years, in different styles and such. But I was searching for YEARS for the one from my childhood and I'm so thrilled that I finally have it! hehehehe

I'm so glad this touched you Drabs!!!! ❤️ Now another person is "nourished" with Stone Soup! hehehe
