Some lovely scenes here, as I like to take photos just before the rain arrives.
The one thing that I don't like is that during a rainy power cut, I have to stay inside the house.
The advancing clouds are always beautiful, and I often get some terrific scenes. I also often get terrifically wet :)
But such is life if you don't grab the opportunities, then you will simply lose out. It is never easy in the strong winds, as they carry huge clouds on their way inland and yesterday 4 people died in the Eastern Cape province due to floods. I read that more than 1000 people lost their homes.
So, this advancing storm had a savage beauty about it.

The high palms danced roughly to and fro in the wind.
This photo below is more to the southern side of the mountain range, and you can see the foothills.
Here below is a sight of what was coming, and I took the shot towards the north.
This is the worry about the winds here, as this palm tree was blowing in a different direction. So we have a main wind, with many cross winds that create a real melee in the sky.
The first sign of a dark cloud entered the scene over the mountain range in the east.
Things were rapidly darkening, and you can see the difference between this photo below and the first photo.
Hola! I have learned my lesson about not getting wet and it was time to go.
Thankfully the outing cut some time off the power cut period and there was only 30 minutes to wait when we got home for the lights to come back on.
This is the way that I spend the two daily power cuts, and the two evening ones, I can do nothing about. But we have some re-chargeable lamps and we use the lamps to read during the dark hours. After so many power cuts, we have a changed lifestyle by force and it is never pleasant to think how the people that live in shacks suffer with no power and families to bath and feed.
It is said that two businesses benefit greatly from the power cuts, and they are the takeaway food businesses and the solar installation companies.
People that work the regular 5 to 9pm office hours, have no time to cook for their families when a power cut starts at 6pm, and they have two choices. Wait for the power cut time to be over with hungry kids screaming in their ears or grab some take aways on the way home from work. Then you get people like me, as though I don't work regular hours, I simply don't eat take aways. Even if I worked regular hours, I would still not eat take away food. Many are the times that I went to bed hungry, but it was good training.
Such is life!
