Hi dear Hivers in Abundance Tribe community, do you prefer a simple life or a life with full of wealth? Some people believe that living a life filled with material possessions and wealth is the key to happiness, while others argue that a simple and contented life is the key to true happiness. The concept of a simple and happy life is often associated with minimalism, living within one's means, and focusing on the simple things in life, such as spending time with family and friends, enjoying nature, and pursuing hobbies and interests. On the other hand, a complicated and rich life is often associated with wealth, materialism, and the pursuit of luxury and excess. Both lifestyles have their pros and cons, and the choice ultimately comes down to personal values and beliefs. Today, I would like to tell you a story of a longtime fisherman on Dak Tang, then you might have something to compare with your present life.
Thai is a longtime fisherman who lived on the shores of Dak Tang lake, a big lake of Dak Tang commune, Kon Plong district. Thai has been fishing on the lake for over 5 years, and he knew every inch of it like the back of his hand. Thai has seen many changes on the lake over the years. He seemed to be one of the first fishermen on the lake after it was formed from the construction of a hydroelectric dam. Although there have been so many changes, he remained dedicated to his craft, rising very early each morning, about 3a.m. to cast his lines and haul in his catch.
Through his enthusiastic, I can see fishing is not just a job for Thai. It was a way of life, a connection to the natural world and to his own inner spirit. He is here on the lake season after season, year after year. For him, fishing was not just a hobby, but a lifelong quest for connection and meaning in a vast and ever-changing world. He told me so many interesting stories about the lake, nature and life in the wild as well. The hardships of the life seemed to make him stronger and happier.
Thai's life may seem simple to some, but to him, it is full of meaning and purpose. He has never wanted or needed much more than his boat, his fishing gear, and the lake that he loves. For him, the key to a happy life is not in material possessions, but in the simple pleasures that can be found in nature and in the work of his own hands. In a world that can often feel complicated and overwhelming, the life of a longtime fisherman on a lake offers a refreshing reminder of the beauty and simplicity that can be found all around us.
Now you can take a look at some pictures I took of him below:
