I thought I was having a perfect marriage, that I had gotten a virtuous woman as a partner. Neither did I know that I have been deceived all this while. We had what people could describe as a perfect relationship, our love was the envy of every young people, but not until I got to see the email Jennifer had been exchanging with Mike for months. I couldn't believe my eyes nor was my mind able to grasp why such treatment.
I had to leave the house at that late hour to the nearest bar, where I tried to drink away my sorrows. I recalled the sweet memories we had, the sweet names we call each other, and the forever vows we renew each day even though we are yet to get married. It was painful to know that it was all an act. Mike and Jennifer were two heartbroken individuals that came together to achieve a common goal; revenge on me.
Mike was my good friend but our friendship ended the day I revealed to his ex-girlfriend his bad intentions toward her. He saw that Priscilla was from a rich home and all he wanted was to take advantage of it and enrich himself while he awaited an opportunity to dump her for the one he truly loved. When he revealed this to me, I didn't support his evil plans because Priscilla has been good to us. She has been helping us financially all the while we hunted for a job. He left the apartment Priscilla rented for us the moment he knew I had revealed his evil intention. Unluckily for me, I didn't know that Jennifer was in the plan together with Mike. Both of them were careful to keep their distance and avoid anyone suspecting their plans. All the money Mike extorted from his ex-girlfriend was shared equally with her. Her job was only to encourage Priscilla to give in to everything Mike demands.
When the game ended for Mike, it also ended for her. This was why they planned to have their revenge on me. Jennifer came as a peacemaker between me and Mike. Along the line, I foolishly fall for her fake love. It was then that they reactivated their plans but this time, it was on me. My business was doing well before Jennifer but within months of my encounter with her, everything changed. I started struggling in my business. I remember leaving my shop to her care for one week due to an urgent call from home. When I came back, she lied to me that she was a victim of fraudsters who took away $100,000 from my business account. The business account runs on $300,000. I believed her because I thought I knew her and that she is as religious as I see. Neither did I know that the money was sent to Mike to prepare their Visa and also buy an apartment in the new place they planned to move to.
Two months after that incident, she came up with a lie that her Father needs a kidney transplant that cost $100,000. She claimed to have saved up to half the cost of the surgery and needs me to support her with the other half. Despite knowing the consequences of taking that amount of money from my business, I gave it to her.
But God saved me from their plans on a certain evening.
To be continued.
