My Moral Compass

in #hive-153850last month
There’s just a number of things I can tolerate in this life and I’m not really bothered if others have a problem with it or not. Life is meant to be very simple but we humans tend to complicate things for ourselves. Now, imagine having an easy way to do something but someone would want to go through the difficult way all for nothing.

Growing up, I saw how my parents brought my siblings and I up in a good way. They say, train a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he would not depart from it. Being the stubborn kid that I was, I’m still shocked my how my parents always managed to keep me in check. I guess it’s a miracle or they’re very good at thing upbringing thing. Personally, I strongly believe that’s charity begins at home. Most of the things we see people do or hear them say are most likely the result of their upbringing, no doubt.

One thing about we humans is that we pick up things from others very quickly without even knowing. Recently, I was working on a project with someone and one phrase the person liked using was ‘go away’. I don’t think I use this phrase in my daily life but one particular day at work, I told a colleague at work to go away and I was really shocked I said that. Even though it was a joke, I wasn’t happy with myself and I fixed that habit I picked up very quickly.

I have a number of codes I live by in my life and once I realize someone is going against them, that’s just it. We must all find a way around it or go our separate ways. Among the lot, that one code I can’t compromise is no lies. I’m not one to lie about anything and even if I tried to lie, I would get caught. The truth they say shall set you free and at our age, I don’t think lying is going to solve any problem.

And the funny part of all this is that, no one is going to beat you when you speak the truth. Aside lies that are very necessary or might put someone’s life at risk, any other lie is a no no for me. Once I find out that someone lied to me, no matter who you are, our relationship is going to change in a way because I’m never going to be able to trust you. Trust is very important to me and to gain my trust isn’t something that comes easily.

So, me finding out someone I trusted so much lied to me isn’t something that is going to sit very well with me. Even if I decide to over look it, I’m still going to remember it every time I’m with you. Lying isn’t something we should even make a habit because once it becomes a habit, we are most likely going to pass it down to our kids and others who hang around us which isn’t really a great thing.

I believe I live by this code strongly because that is how I was brought up. There was no sort of lies in my home and no matter how bad what you did was, you had to say it for everyone to find a way to help instead of lying and watching things get worse. I have seen how lies have brought people down and I wouldn’t want to wish that on anyone. Lying might look like something small or an everyday thing to you but trust me, it’s not. It’s more like a slow poison that will eat you up gradually until there’s no iota of dignity left in you.

Upbringing matters a lot as what we've seen also learnt growing up usually shapes us, and it's good to see honesty and truth is one you've come to hold on to, lie is a disease that can affect relationships and being about distrust.

A small lie can cause great harm. Honesty is the best.

I can't help but commend ur parents for such an admirable upbringing. Lies might seem like a small thing but it's a disease capable of affecting our personality. Really a nice code to live by. And I understand the issue of trust when someone like to you
Nice one babe
