I am guessing that we remember the adage that says "No food for a lazy man" we often joked about it as some sentence that is trying to encourage lazy people to find something doing with their hands but I think after our personal experiences of the current economic situations of the country those words made more meaning to now.
There is still no food for you here even if you are not lazy, you just have to work extra hard and be a fighter

There is no escape route at this point and not even a single shortcut we can follow to have some food on our table. We just have to work and work hard for our daily bread.
The situations might be fairer in other places and the energy input you need before you can get an average meal is not so pronounced.
But coming down here, you have to sweat and be a real fighter before you can get something for your stomach.

Your input is never equivalent to your output, the harder you work, the little you get because of bad governance and inhuman people loaded everywhere in the country.
In every office there is a corrupt leader and a corrupt follower likewise in every street corner there are people looking forward to exploit others.
The few good people left suffer so much hardship from the corruption of the bad and large percentage of people.

Everything is now so chaotic that the cost of living is unbearable and regardless of how much you have worked and saved in form of fiat is never enough to meet up with the standard hence many people still go hungry.

I am glad that I was born a fighter and so is everyone in my family.
And we came from a state where the people living there are hard working. I mean hard physical labours is what we were raised up doing.

We all grew up in the farms. Any child from age 10 already knows how to hold a cutlass and clear weed in the farms. And it is cultural for us to hawk our farm products in the community, round the village and in the market square for us to get the finance needed to buy the food seasonings and soup ingredients that cannot be gotten from the farms.

Occasionally farming is accompanied with trading. We sell every extra food we cannot consume for money. For this reason we are not hungry regardless of the economic situation in this area.

Hive blockchain made it even more easier for me. While I make extra efforts to save the earnings from blogging here, often times I sell some hive to buy seasonings fruits and other little things we need that was not Harvested from our farm.

There is food in my barn and the financial burden of buying foodstuff was erased totally for me this year.
Am sure you cannot understand my joy and how challenging it would have been for me to feed the house at these times if we have no food from the farm.
Knowing that there are no jobs here too(except you create one for yourself) we could have gone totally stranded if we didn't harvest a thing from the farm

Cross section of different stored grains.

We have eating up the yams and potatoes since those tubers usually get spoilt because of hot weather at this time, yet we still have abundance of beans, corn, rice, and guinea corn.
Our meals have been an alternation between these and we prepared them in different manner to have some tasty dish.

A bag of rice is sold for 40k above the minimum wage of 30k the government is struggling to pay families. The minimum wage cannot cover for anyone financial need of Transport food and house rent, I just cannot imagine how those depending on these salaries for their needs are coping right now...

This is one good reason am glad we have these farming ability.
Hope I haven't bore you much with the writeup.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hunger is too much here...lol
Honestly, farming is awesome
I cherish those days in the village..a thanks to my grandma for putting me through farming. We do enjoy a lot of harvest then and buy few ingredients just like u and ur family. But over here in Lagos, I have been buying every single thing with the high cost of living. I admire you and your family... Weldon for ur great job

I totally understand you and can relate.
And Lagos is even more expensive compared to other state in Nigeria.
I just hope that all this will be over soon, so we can all live our normal lives.

It's my expectations too.
Better Nigeria
Less suffering

Sincerely speaking, no food for lazy people. Farming is for everyone who knows the value of it no matter how small it is.

Thank you so much for sharing this little of your reality, Monica.

Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate.

This reminds me of why my farmer grandmother insisted that me her city grandchild learn how to grow food ... it is literally saving you and your family to know! Thank you for the reminder of these important things -- not to be taken for granted!

Exactly and thanks to your grandma for leading you in the right path.
May our parents be blessed for showing us the right way.

Thanks for stopping by.
