Well, I had zero expectations for this match because I knew it was going to be a dead rubber tie. Spurs were not going to lose against an already relegated Norwich team and we always make easy games harder than they should.
Frankly speaking, I always felt like the result of the match would be irrelevant, and while we started strongly, our intensity waned as usual.
There's really not much to say about today. We played and earned three points to end the season strongly.
I wish we showed this intensity against Newcastle, perhaps things would have been different. Alas, it's the premier league and small margins matter.
Next season
We have to start discussing potential improvements in the squad. There are a lot of areas that we can do with better personnel.
We can't continue wasting man hours whining about the unavailability of Partey and Tierney, we need improvements. It doesn't matter how good a player is, if he's absent, he's not helping.
We don't need another Tavares and Lokonga type deal, we need players that are on par or even better than what we have in those positions.
It's pretty much the same situation in the striker position. In Nketiah and Balogun, we have two younger strikers with loads of potential, we need a marquis signing now.
We need a premium striker with a sexy goal scoring history. We can't keep relying on these hit or miss situations anymore.
We've been linked with a couple of proper goal scorers and I'd be happy if we brought in one of them. Oshimen, Jesus, Nunez, and DCL are amongst the names mentioned.
Whatever the case may be, we need improvements at the top end of the pitch.
In the middle of the pitch, I've already mentioned Thomas Partey's continuous absence and that has meant we rely on Elneny. Surely we can't continue like this.
Granit Xhaka is a seasoned and solid campaigner but he needs competition. We absolutely need improvement there as well.
Depth
We're heading into the Europa League and will be playing a lot more games than we did this season. So we'll need a solid first and second team to handle both competitions.
The Europa League isn't as underrated as it used to be in the past. These days, a lot of big teams end up in that tournament and we'll need to be at our best to stand a chance.
It has been a rollercoaster of a season and while it's not perfect, it's still fair value. We finish the season with 69 points, which would have been 3rd or 4th in the past four seasons.
We've improved and now we have to look at improving even further. Not much else we can do actually and as always, until we meet again, up the Arsenal.
